The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (F45 model code) is a compact MPV produced by BMW since August 2014. The closely related BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer (F46 model code) is a longer three-row version that started production in 2015.
Marketed as part of the 2 Series range, the F45 / F46 is based on the front-wheel-drive UKL2 platform. The design is based on the BMW Concept Active Tourer and shares similarities with the MINI Countryman, which is also produced by BMW.
The F45 / F46 is the first front-wheel-drive cars sold under the BMW brand, designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
Sales began in November 2014. An all-wheel-drive xDrive system is offered as an option. The model was facelifted in 2019, with changes to the front bumper and grilles. The second generation of the model was introduced at the end of 2021,
and was offered for sale across Europe in 2022 with petrol hybrid engine options. The model was not offered with a 1.5 diesel 3-cylinder engine option in its second generation.
