The first generation of the BMW 4 Series includes the BMW F32 (coupe version), BMW F33 (cabrio version), and BMW F36 (the five-door fastback version marketed as 'Gran Coupé')
It consists of compact premium cars. F32/F33/F36 was produced from 2014 to 2020 and is commonly referred to as F32.
F32 was introduced as the successor to the E92/E93 coupe/cabrio models of the fifth generation 3 Series. F32 is produced alongside the F30 3 Series and shares many features.
Like the F30 3 Series, the F32/F33/F36 is powered by 3-cylinder (only gasoline), 4-cylinder, and 6-cylinder turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines.
High-performance F82/F83 M4 models were introduced in early 2014. They are powered by the S55 turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine.
BMW published the official details of the "Concept 4 Series" in December 2012, detailing its intention to replace the E92 3 Series coupe with a new 4 Series.
In 2013, the concept vehicle (referred to as the Concept 4 Series Coupé) was introduced at the North American International Auto Show. The concept car was designed by Won Kyu Kang.
Compared to its predecessor, the F32 has a wheelbase that is 50 mm (2.0 in) longer, a total length that is 31 mm (1.2 in) longer, and a width that is 44 mm (1.7 in) wider.
The front track width is 1,545 mm (60.8 in) and the rear track width is 1,593 mm (62.7 in), increased by 45 mm (1.8 in) and 80 mm (3.1 in) respectively.
